Zlata Chochieva had a debut recital at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall on April 2nd. The program began with Bach’s Organ work around 1730. The well-maintained sound resonated well in the small recital hall, making it feel like a vast dome. This was followed by a symphonic etude composed by the young Schumann. The piece was interesting for its instability and sudden mood changes, inspired by amateur music. Watching the performance closely, I felt her dedication to music as she practiced repeatedly. This time, the Prometheus Variations were also performed in the middle of the performance, and the pianist's delicate tone and deep expression made the work even more enjoyable on a grander scale. In the next performance, she played two pieces by Brahms, one composed in her later years and the other in her younger years. The deep inner chemistry and adolescence's bold and restless intensity were both enjoyable. In the second half, she played a series of eight preludes selected from Rachmaninoff's preludes, Op. 23 and Op. 32. Compared to the first half, the performance was more relaxed, and the nuances of the atmosphere and color were more clearly conveyed. The performance of Rachmaninoff's Variations on a Theme by Corelli and Mendelssohn was more refined, delicately controlled, and beautifully balanced. For the encore, Rachmaninoff and Villa-Lobos were performed. It was an excellent debut recital.
